Go with Aaron as he teaches you about the various areas of the field, what a day-in-the-life is like on the job, what income to expect, and how to break into certain jobs. It is not a textbook but a friendly resource to help you make decisions about your career direction, how to start a consulting practice, how to network to build referrals and advance your career, tips for considering doctoral school, and what skills you will need that you may not have learned in grad school. Whether it is your first semester in grad school or your 15th year in the field, there is something inside for anyone who wants to grow in their career.

Also Inside:

  • Understand the field as an intersection of disability, career, and mental health,
  • The difference between therapist, counselor, and consultant,
  • Choosing certifications that bring value,
  • Personal stories to normalize the fear and stress of changing careers,
  • And more!

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)

How much does shipping cost?

  • Shipping cost to the lower 48 states is $4.67 cents for the size and weight of a single book.

How long will shipping take?

  • I use USPS “media mail” which is typically “slow but cheap.”  I did this to keep the costs down for you and expenses down for me.  If you need a rush delivery, you can either choose the best option during checkout, or use the Contact Me form and let me know what works best for your location.

What if I need to return the book? Can I get a refund?

  • That’s a little complicated, but we can handle it!  Check out the Refund and Return Policies at the bottom of the checkout page.  The reason I can’t give you a straight answer here is because you can always send the book back, but the circumstances of the refund depend on the situation.  I want what’s fair for both of us and whole-heartedly believe that 99.9% of situations can be settled in a way that we both believe is fair.

What the heck kind of operation are you running anyway?

  • It’s seriously just me and my dad.  I chose not to publish with a major publisher because I thought it would be fun and interesting to learn how to do this on my own.  Plus, I wanted to do this with my dad because it gave us another reason to spend more time together.  When your order comes in, we both get an email and one of us will send the book depending on who can get to it faster.
